Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Walk4Brain Cancer. On 23 July 2018 I was diagnosed with a stage 2 Diffuse Astrocytoma. Within a fortnight I underwent a resection and began considering treatment options (Chemo & radiation). Dan and I knew next to nothing about Brain Cancer before 23 July - but what we have learnt since is utterly terrifying:* Around 1700 people are diagnosed with brain cancer in Australia annually and approximately 1200 die from the disease every year * Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer. *Brain cancer has a very high mortality rate and survival rates have hardly changed for 30 years.•Brain Cancer is the most complex cancer yet it is the most under-studied.•Brain Cancer costs more per patient than any other cancer because of its highly debilitating, affects people in their prime and often means family members cannot work if they become carers•Brain Cancer receives very little funding, in 2012 received only 3% of federal government funding(all statistics sourced directly from the Mark Hughes Foundation Website and the Cure Brain Cancer Website)Our little family will be particiating in this walk on 21 October to help raise funds for research and awareness of the disease - Any assistance or sponsorship you can offer would be greatly appreciated - Thank you Cass, Dan, James & Julian
