Join us for a 3km walk in honour of those we've lost, to celebrate the survivors and to give hope and courage to those currently fighting brain cancer and each other. You'll be raising awaress and vital funds for brain cancer research and advocacy. The path caters for walkers of all levels and is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
"In March 2016, Easter Monday, my mother collapsed while having her first seizure. We were unaware until that point that anything was amiss with her health. An ambulance ride and CT scan later revealed the emergency departments initial diagnosis. “Brain tumour”. I remember pointing the words out to my father, knowing it was bad but having no idea the ride we were about to undertake.
Despite brain surgery, radiation, chemo, eating a healthy diet, positive thinking and the hope we would be lucky, the tumour won. On Valentine’s Day 2017, only 10.5 months from diagnosis, my beautiful mother passed away from Glioblastoma Multiforme - Stage 4 incurable brain cancer.
Since my mother was diagnosed, I have heard so many stories of other locals suffering the same ordeal. If we rally together we can help propell the change needed to cure a cancer for which there currently is little hope for survival."
