I lost my sister Vanessa to brain cancer. The hardest part about losing a loved one is you can never make new memories with them. So much of my life and the people in it has changed since I lost my sister in 2010 and she hasn’t been there to see it.
Vanessa was such a proud aunty but she never got to see my kids in a school uniform let alone celebrate their many achievements. I have many wonderful sisters in my life and so much to be grateful for but will forever feel like someone is missing from the memories I’m creating.
Creating the Walk4BrainCancer Sunshine Coast is not only my way of including Vanessa in new memories I am creating with my friends and family, it will raise funds so that one day no more loved ones are lost to Brain Cancer. Brain cancer is one of the most under-studied of all cancers, yet receives very little research funding even though it is the leading cause of cancer death in young people. Join me for a 5km walk for a cause that is close to my heart.
